The Distal forearm injuries page has been updated with additional information about the sensitivity of plain radiography for scaphoid fractures in ED patients. The sensitivity of plain films for all types of scaphoid fracture in ED patients is higher than many people believe because most of the reported series come from patients referred to orthopeadic clinics who already have normal plain films (i.e. all the displaced and obvious fractures have already been diagnosed). Even in this group only about 22% have demonstrable fractures on advanced imaging – and if the fractures are all undisplaced anyway then the significance of this may be limited,
