New – Version 3

We have been working very hard behind the scenes to produce a new version of the online manual that will improve the experience for our subscribers so are pleased to announce ‘Version 3‘.

This version has some additional features and improvements which we hope you will find useful. The most important of these are:

  • Predictive text searching – the list of potential topics comes up as you type, saving you time.
  • A new layout with large buttons – easier to use on small screened devices
  • The ability for you to bookmark specific pages – means you can come back to them later or easily flick between pages in different parts of the book
  • Quicker loading time (and less bandwidth) due to smaller sized files
  • A new filter to remove images, ACEM information and references from view, as well as the ability to remove images only. Useful when studying a topic that has lots of associated images that can be distracting.

In addition this version should avoid the display and search problems some users of iPads have experienced when using previous.

Whilst these improvements may not seem like much, it has taken an awful lot of work over the last 12 months to get this up and running – mostly because of the need work-arounds for the multiple bugs in the software used to produce it.

One consequence of this is that some chapter and topic title names have had to be changed a little. Whilst the new titles are probably better in any case, it means that links to some pages will now be broken (e.g. links from quiz question answer explanations etc.). Given the time involved in setting this up, and keeping the content updated, unfortunately it is unlikely we will ever have the time to update all the existing links to the new pages – we hope you understand.

Any feedback about how the new version works for you on your devices is most welcome – especially from iPad users.

We hope you find the new version useful.
