New website features summary

Some important features have recently been added to the Emergency Medicine Manual Online site that we wanted to be sure you were aware of.

Firstly, we have created an interactive home page designed to help you be aware of recent updates. Whenever possible, each update now has a link to the page with changed content, making it easier to see what is new. Also on the home page are the ‘Featured formula’ and ‘Featured image’ areas aimed at helping you remember some content that is otherwise spread out throughout the manual. The new front pages are also easier to view on mobile devices.

With the new website, you are now able to post comments about any update, poll or quiz. This is aimed to stimulate discussion about the areas of uncertainty in our practice, or can be used to ask a question about the contents of the manual. Comments can be posted by any user, however your name and email address will be required as we feel anonymous comments will not be particularly useful. The willingness of people like yourself to contribute by commenting will determine how useful this feature is for all subscribers.

Another new feature is the ability for you to vote on our online polls. The most recent poll is about the agent you most commonly use to treat severe pain. If you have not already voted in our polls, please consider taking the time to do so as the practice of others is of interest to many of our subscribers. Poll results may also stimulate new quizzes and help modify the contents of the manual.

The first quizzes have also been added to the site, with many more planned for the future. These are meant to help those studying in earnest, or to be a challenge for those just wanting to test themselves. The muscle relaxant quiz followed on from the results of the poll on that topic and the first of the quizzes on recent updates has also been posted in the last week. A tough new ACEM Fellowship standard 60 MCQ quiz has just been added – for those wanting to take the challenge.

Finally, the new website has an online feedback form that you can use to get in touch with us about absolutely anything. If you have a question, think that there is something wrong in the manual or just want to give us feedback about the site or make a suggestion, please click on the ‘contact us’ link at the top the page which links to the feedback form. As we are committed to providing the best possible experience to you as a subscriber, your help in letting us know how we are doing will greatly assist us.

We hope you find the new features useful – happy browsing!
