The new layout for the manual has been further developed, and is now at the point where it is ready for use. For this reason we have put a link (to open a new tab) to the new format on the front page of the website and here.
Within the new layout, you can only access the content of the manual – quizzes, journal scans and other interactive features of the site are only available from the existing home page. Opening the new layout in a separate tab makes switching between the main areas of the website easier.
To use the new layout you will need at least Flash Player 10 (or newer) installed in your browser. We recommend you also use the latest version of Java.
Although there are still a few problems to resolve, the advantages of the new layout (cleaner appearance, easier navigation and improved search and index functions) mean that you should give it a try. In our tests, pages are a little slower to load than the old version, but it is actually quicker to find what you are looking for. The new layout also has about 50 new images that are not available through the old format.
Navigation is easy by clicking on the Table of Contents icon and following the navigation arrows. You access the index by clicking on the ‘A-Z’ icon – and you can search the index by typing your query in the search box at the top of the column. To search all the contents of the manual, click on the magnifying glass and type your search word(s) into the search box. Links from the search results take you straight to where your search word first appears on the page.
Currently all audio files are available, however videos are not currently functioning. Please also be aware that the new format has the images in each page, so data download amounts for image rich pages will be higher than for the old version.
The old version is also still available by following the existing links, but once the new version is fully operational only the new version will be the one updated in the future.
