Formula of the day

Respiratory acidosis: each 10 mmHg increase in pCO2 increases HCO3- by 1 mmol/L within 10 min, 3-4 mmol/L within 4 days

Medical wisdom

For a lot of things you can either treat aggressively and things will be better by 7 days or treat conservatively and they will be better in a week.
