A new image illustrating the appearance of the major deep veins in the leg when examined by US has been added to the Deep venous thrombosis page in the Haematological disorders section. As you can see it has been a thrombo-embolic kind of day today.
New images have been added demonstrating intraluminal thrombus and the method of AAA diameter measurement by US.
A new section describing the the US technique used to detect AAA has been added to the Abdominal aortic aneurysm page in the Abdominal emergencies section.

New images demonstrating a popliteal vein DVT on compression ultrasound have been added to the Deep venous thrombosis page in the Haematological disorders section.
New images demonstrating saddle embolism, RV dilation, and pulmonary infarction on CXR and CT have been added to the Investigation in PE – imaging page in the Cardiovascular disorders section.
A new diagram outlining the process of neuromuscular transmission has been added to the Neuromuscular Physiology page in the Resuscitation section.
The Assessment of Abdominal Trauma page in the Trauma section has just been updated with additional information regardin the role of DPL.
The work continues with upgrading the images on the site. Another 30 upgraded images have just been uploaded to the site.
The suggested use of naloxone in neonatal resuscitation on the Nonatal Resuscitation page in the Resuscitation section has been downgraded in light of the 2010 ILCOR guidelines.
Another 50 of the online images have been upgraded to improve their quality.
The dose of naloxone as described in the Neonatal Resuscitation page ( p146 of text) in the Resuscitation section should be 0.1 microgram/kg not 0.1mg/kg as stated. The 0.1microgram/kg dose can be repeated if required.
Work has commenced on upgrading the quality of all images on the site. Thirty five images have already been signficantly improved.
Work has now been completed in linking all the (900+) larger images to separate pages from the text pages. This will reduce unnecessary data download costs for images the user may not wish to see.

A link to an online pneumothorax size calculator has been added to the Assessment of Pneumothorax page in the Respiratory disorders section.
A new short section on sucking chest wounds has been added to the Penetrating chest trauma page in the Trauma section
From now on, links to new updates will take you directly to a bookmarked part of the page where the majority of the changes have occurred. However, please be aware that often other parts of the page are updated at the same time, so be sure to browse the entire page if you are looking for new content.
As the manual contains a significant amount of content directly relevant to the care of children that is found outside the Paediatrics section, we have reconfigured the Paediatric section content menus to include links to this other content. This should make finding and reviewing paediatric content throughout the manual much easier.
