Some buttons are back!

A fix has been found for the button problem, so a few are being re-instated on the site. However we are feeling a bit ‘button shy’ after the disruption, so will use them a bit more sparingly in future – unless there is an outcry of support for them from our subscribers.

OSCE skills to review

Whilst there are a myriad of potential OSCE topics that could be used in the ACEM Fellowship exam, here is a list of some of the areas I suggest you review carefully before the exam. These have been chosen for special emphasis as these skills are broadly applicable to a variety of situations likely to be tested in an OSCE exam and are drawn from the non medical expertise domains of the ACEM curriculum.

Apologies for missing apostrophe pages

Due to the server not recognising certain types of apostrophes in the names of web pages, some pages with apostrophes in their titles (e.g. Reye’s syndrome, Parkinson’s disease etc.) have been unable to be accessed using version 1 or 2. This has now been rectified as we have found a style of apostrophe that is suitable to the … Read more

Changes to Version 1

in response to feedback, we have made a few changes to Version 1. The colour of the stripe that appears at the top, side or bottom of the screen (depending on the window size) has been changed from red to grey, to be a little less distracting. When searching, the text that used to appear below the page on which the search … Read more

Version 1 search feature changes

We have simplified the display of the search results in Version 1 to improve the search performance. Previously the html name of the page was displayed as well as a short snippet of the content around the word(s) being searched for. Both of these have now been removed, so now all that is displayed is the title of the … Read more

Guillain-Barré a été trouvé!

Unfortunately the page on Guillain-Barré  has been unavailable for a while because our web server does not speak French. As the file name for the page used the correct spelling (Guillain-Barré), the anglophile server refused to recognise it and was displaying an error message instead.  The page is now available again, however (apologies to all the Francophiles out … Read more

Important – menu changes

The main site menu has been updated so the two new versions (and the old version) of the manual content can be accessed through the ‘Content’ heading on the main menu. As the previous ‘Search’ and ‘Index’ headings on the main menu only are only relevant to the old manual content (that is no longer being updated), … Read more

We are pleased to announce that you can now preview the new online version in its draft format. The new format has a cleaner look, and displays much better on smaller … Read more
