Having just sent out an email telling all subscribers that the website search function wasn’t working, the next thing we tried fixed it!
Having said that, it is unclear what caused the problem in the first place, so recurrence is a real possibility. The search function places the greatest strain on the resources of the webserver, so is the most sensitive to resource limitations when multiple subscribers are logged in, especially when they are using the more complex features (e.g quizzes, looking at videos etc).
We will continue to monitor the search function operation and provide updates on the situation if required.
