2 CXRs demonstrating features of a ball valve L bronchial FB have been added to the Tracheobronchial foreign bodies in children page.
A CXR of a pneumothorax with features of tension has been added to the Assessment of pneumothorax page.
An image of a (mostly) normal lateral CXR has been added to the Chest imaging page.
The Pulmonary fibrosis page has been updated with additional information about idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis
The Sarcoidosis page has been updated with some additional information about sarcoid lung disease
The Assessment of COPD page has been updated with information about the BODE index for prediction of long term mortality.
The Investigations in PE – non imaging page has been updated with additional information about ECG features associated with a higher risk of shock.
The Pulmonary aspiration page has had a significant revision, particularly in relation to antibiotic choices and the reduced importance of anaerobic bacteria in secondary pneumonia.
The Management of PE page has been updated with a new flowchart that corrects an error in the previous chart and simplifies things as well!
The PE in special populations page has been updated with a variety of minor improvements in wording and organisation.
The Chest imaging page has been updated with a new image of an azygous fissure and some additional information about it.
The Oxygen therapy page has been updated, including a clearer indication that target SpO2 in hospitalised patients should rarely be > 95%.
The Management of pneumothorax page has been updated to indicate that pneumothorax secondary to pleural needle puncture usually resolves with conservative treatment alone.
The Assessment of pneumothorax page has been updated to indicate that the BTS guidelines recommend measurement of the separation of the lung from the chest wall at the level of the hilum on CXR.
The Abnormal intrathoracic gas page has been updated, including removing traumatic causes from the section on primary pneumothorax. Thanks to Farzad for picking this up.
