Paediatric head trauma

The Paediatric Head Trauma page in the Trauma section has been substantially revised, including the addition of the CHALICE paediatric head injury rules.

Cardiac arrest in pregnancy

Additional information regarding the management of cardiac arrest in pregnancy has been added to the Advanced Life Support page in the Resuscitation section. Also a link from there to the Post Mortem Caesarean Section part of the Trauma in Pregnancy page in the Obstetrics section has been added.

BLS / ACLS / Defibrillation

A variety of additional information about the process of BLS / ACLS and Defibrillation have been added to the Life Support and Cardiac Arrythmias sections of the Resuscitation chapter.

Investigation of blunt head trauma

This page in the Trauma section has been revised to include a better description of the populations to which each of the CT head decision rules apply and their strengths and weaknesses. A more detailed description of the New Orleans rule has been added.

Pleural effusion / haemothorax

Otitis externa

The assessment and management of Otitis externa in the Head and Neck Disorders section has been updated.

Progesterone in early pregnancy

The role of a single progesterone level in determining pregancy viability in the first trimester has been added to the Miscarriage page in the Obstetrics & Gynaecology section, following the recent publication of a meta-analysis in the BMJ.

Fragmented QRS

An ECG demonstrating fragmented QRS has been added to the ECG in Acute Coronary Syndromes page in the Cardiovascular diseases section.

3 new ECGs

New ECGs showing atrial flutter with a LBBB and pseudo (or possibly true RV) AIVR have been added. Some additions have been made to the section on AIVR and atrial flutter in the Other Arrhythmias section of the Resuscitation chapter
